- A conflict of interest about a research study exists when any part of the research study might be/is influenced by a secondary interest (such as financial gain or non-monetary benefit). Conflict of interest can affect the credibility of a research study, author and the journal. Perceptions of an editor/author/reviewer about conflict of interest are as important as actual conflicts of interest.
- Conflict of interest may arise due to financial relationship (such as employment, consultancies, rewards and patents) or non-financial reasons such as personal relationships, academic competition, and intellectual beliefs.
- Conflict of interest for Editor Editor(s) and editorial staff members should recuse themselves from editorial decisions/judgments if they have conflicts of interest or relationships that pose potential conflicts related to articles under consideration. Editorial staff must not use information gained through working with manuscripts for private gain. Editors should publish regular disclosure statements about potential conflicts of interests related to the commitments of journal staff. Guest editors should follow these same procedures.

More
- An initial screening of manuscripts should be done before sending to peer reviewers.
- It is the ethical responsibility of the scholars to review the research articles professionally and in a standardized manner.
- The reviewers should inform the editor immediately after receiving a request about the subject expertise required to carry out the review. They should also inform about the possible delay and suggest another date of submission of review report.
- The reviews should be carried in consideration with high scientific standards to ensure comprehension of the reviewer’s comments by the editors and the author(s). The reviewers should avoid personal criticism on the author(s), and their decision should be purely based on the quality of research article.
- The reviewer should neither publish the author (s) work nor share with others on any platform without the prior approval of the editor. In case, if he/she may find conflicts of interest i.e. the research paper under reviews is the same to his/her presently conducted study, then he/she should return the manuscript immediately to the editor without review and justify to him/her.
- It is the prime responsibility of the reviewer to inform the editor about the manuscript that is replica of an earlier work with its citation as a reference or the work is plagiarized e.g. the author has not properly acknowledged or referenced others’ work.
- If the reviewer finds the data presented in the manuscript is untrue, unrealistic or fake, he/she should bring it in the editor’s knowledge.
- The reviewers are required to evaluate the originality of the manuscript by considering that it adds to the existing knowledge, and its research questions or hypothesis is appropriate to the objective of the research work.
- If the manuscript has not been prepared according to format, then the reviewers should discuss with the editor or may include it in his/her comments. the research article is scientifically sound and the deficiency is only language expression or typographical errors, then the reviewers may suggest restructuring the paper before publication.
- The reviewers should critically review the rational and appropriateness of the specific analysis.
- The reviewers should write a brief summary that consists of reviewer’s final decision and inferences drawn from full review in his/her review report.
- The reviewers are required to submit review reports clearly indicating reject, major revision or minor revision with justification. The final decision about publishing research paper (either accept or reject) will solely rest with the editor and it is not a reviewer’s job to take part in this decision.
The editor will surely consider reviewer’s comments and have a right to send the paper for another opinion or send back to the author(s) for its revisions before making the final decision.
Peer Review Policy and Process Peer review is an important element for raising the quality, credibility and acceptability of published research. Please carefully observe the following guidelines while reviewing a manuscript.
Expertise: A reviewer is expected to provide a good, honest and fair assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the work/manuscript on its various sections. The subject-matter of a paper sent to a reviewer may/may not be identical to his/her field of expertise. One may not be precisely qualified in a particular field to be a constructive reviewer. A reviewer’s job is to review the overall quality of a manuscript sent to him/her. So if the paper is not according to the reviewer’s expertise, he/she should return it to the editorial team without delay. Confidentiality: Reviewers must be treated the received material as confidential until published. Reviewers must not disclose and share the received material with another person.
Intellectual Quality of Manuscript: The constructive feedback from reviewer(s) will help the author(s) to improve their manuscript. A paper must be judged on its intellectual merits alone. Personal criticism or criticism based solely on the political or social views of the reviewer is not acceptable. Remember it is the authors’ paper and the reviewers have no right to make it rewritten to match their own preferred style if it is basically sound and clear. However, suggestions for changes that can improve the clarity of manuscript are important. The suggestions must be based on valid academic or technical grounds. Conflict of interest: Reviewers must declare any conflict of interest or any other factor, which may affect their review work e.g., for instance a reviewer may have received a paper of a colleague or an intellectual competitor / opponent. In cases of conflict of interest, the reviewer(s) are requested to notify the editorial team of their inability to review a manuscript.
Full explanation: Reviewers are obliged to be specific, objective, relevant and constructive in their feedback on the manuscript and the quality of work. Critical or opposing judgments must be fully supported by detailed reference to evidence from the paper under review or other relevant sources.
Plagiarism and copyright: If a reviewer considers that a paper may contain plagiarism or it might breach another party’s copyright, they should notify the editorial group for the journal about it along with providing the relevant citations to support their claim.
Member of Editorial Board as Reviewer: If a member from editorial board is reviewing a manuscript, then a transparent and blind review would be ensured. In this case, providing a manuscript for double blind review would be handled by another member of the editorial board.
Responsiveness: Reviewers are asked to return their reports within three months. This assists us to provide rapid feedback to the author.
Expectations Post Review: After reviewing a manuscript, the reviewer must keep the details of manuscript and its review confidential. The reviewer would respond promptly to the matter if contacted from Journal for any details about the reviewed manuscript.
